Step 1: Intro Session
If you have questions about what it’s like to work with me or you would like to learn more about my approach, you can schedule a free 15 minute intro session either over the phone or in person. This is a great opportunity for us to see if we are a good fit. At this visit we’ll schedule a time for your new patient visit and e-mail you our comprehensive health history paperwork for you to fill out prior to your first appointment.
Step 2: Time To Get Started
At our first 90 minute visit we’ll discuss your health history and your current health concerns. I’ll get a thorough understanding of your diet, lifestyle, menstrual cycle, sleep, stress, energy, digestion, current medications and supplements. We’ll review all of your body systems and do a physical exam specific to your concerns. Because I focus on whole-person medicine, we’ll discuss your mental, spiritual, social, and emotional health as well as your physical health.
When I feel like I have a good understanding of your current health concerns, we’ll discuss your lab testing options. Naturopathic Doctors have the ability to order and interpret conventional labs. We can also utilize specialty lab testing for food sensitivities, nutrient status, and hormone health.
By the end of your visit you’ll leave with an action plan to start feeling better as soon as possible and have all of your questions answered. I’ll make dietary and lifestyle recommendations as well as supplement or medication recommendations specific to you. This will all be typed up in a treatment plan that you will take home with you. I also may recommend that you do a food journal before our next appointment time.
It’s important to me that you are enjoying this process. Even though changes can be hard, I want you to feel empowered and happy that you are moving towards great health. Even diet changes can be delicious!
Step 3: Taking Action
You can start making the changes and taking any herbs or supplements I recommend at the first appointment. With some cases you will start seeing results immediately, and other things may take some diligence and time. You will do a food journal if I have recommended it, or take notes about how you’ve been feeling with your new lifestyle changes.
Step 4: First Check-In
2-3 weeks after your initial appointment we will have our first follow up visit. This is an opportunity for me to go over successes and difficulties you may have had the past few weeks and give you encouragement to keep it up! We can make any necessary changes to the initial treatment plan depending on what is or isn’t working for you. Naturopathic doctors have a lot of tools in our toolkit and there are a variety of treatment options so choose from, based on your needs.
During this visit we will go over lab test results and make adjustments to your plan based on what we discover.
Step 5: Continued support
Follow ups will continue every 4-6 weeks, depending on how much support you’ll need. If we’re making major changes or have multiple health conditions that need to be addressed, I usually recommend checking in every 3-4 weeks for at least 3 months, or until you’re stable. Once you’re really feeling better we will start spacing out the visits and checking in as needed.
Step 6: Maintenance
As you’re moving towards your best, healthiest, happiest self, we’ll spread your appointments out. I recommend a check-in visit with me quarterly to make sure you’re staying on track—I’m here for encouragement and accountability! I’m also available for treating other concerns like colds/flus as they come up. You can come visit the clinic for health boosting services like Vitamin Shots or IV Therapy.
